Mindfulness. In the past few years I have become very mindful of my words, my decisions, and my actions. Understanding who I am and how I can contribute somehow to general existence is very important to me.
Imagination. As in a completely overactive, melodramatic imagination that often leads to fairly macabre obsessing over hypothetical situations. I manage to keep most of these thoughts under strict lock and key but every now and then one escapes and I can get pretty worked up over nothing.
Children. They have become the cornerstone of my professional development (what little of it there is). From the time I was very young I have always been very good with children. I trust them a lot more than I trust most adults. Children are honest. They either like you or they don’t and they aren’t afraid to look you in the eye and tell you about it. I feel more comfortable with children than I ever feel with people my age. I love the children I care for every day at work and I can’t wait to have some of my own someday.
Humor. My sense of humor has always been a bit twisted. Dry, sarcastic, dark, sometimes too subtle. I know I’ve probably scared some people away with it, but it has also attracted some of the more interesting people I’ve ever met. CB seems to get my humor, he’s probably more warped with his humor than I am with mine.
Europe. In case anyone has missed it or is new to this blog and has yet to read any of the intro/about me stuff, I’m moving to Belgium in December to live with my boyfriend. I’ll be learning Dutch, using a bike for most of my transportation , and converting everything to the metric system. Should make for an interesting blog read.
Love. This is a simple one. I have a lot of love to give. At times it comes spilling out and engulfs the people around me and it can be pretty intense. Fortunately I have a great family and an amazing Cabana Boy who are willing to soak it all up. I look a lot less psychotic that way.
Lavender and Lilacs. Two colors and flowers I love. I love purples, all shades of purples and purple flowers, but especially pansies, lavender and lilacs. The smell of lavender drives me insane, in a good way. I fell in love with a lilac tree that I passed every day on the back to my dorm in college. You could smell the lilacs on the breeze as you approached the tree. I had a lot of difficult days in college and sometimes smelling those lilacs was the only thing that could make me smile or feel good. I even wrote a poem about it once. I’ll dig it up and post it later on.
Earnest. More often than not, I’m a very serious person. I demand a lot of myself and sometimes a lot of others. I’m usually in some sort of deep thought, and it shows a lot. My mom used to have to remind me to smile. People constantly ask me if something is bothering me or if I’m in pain. A friend of mine told me once while we were making dinner that I was looking at the pan like I was going to kill it. All I was trying to do was decide if I thought we should add smoked oysters to the gumbo. It takes a lot sometimes to get me to smile.

And I apologize to any unwilling participants, but my middle name is uberlong and I don’t know that many people. If I tag you, please don’t hurt me!
