Lilac Colored Glasses

Hello there, loyal following! I’m sure when you saw the title of this post you were positive I was going to announce the release of a new and spectacular array of “Lilac Colored Following” merchandise, right?

Right?!?!

Ok, yeah, me neither. What I do want to discuss, is a few comments I have received regarding the slight changes made to the sidebars on my page.

When I started this blog it was just for me to write. It didn’t matter if people read it or not. As more people started to read (pretty much whoever my mom gave the address and a few people from my MMORPG) I began to think of ways to improve the format and make it so that more people might want to come back, even if they didn’t necessarily always want to hear about preschoolers or my boyfriend (and yes, there are many more aspects to me and I know that, but this blog is often strongly seasoned with the aforementioned topics). I’ve toyed with the idea of my own server and domain and getting Word Press software and actually paying to blog. At this point it seems excessive and an expense I can’t afford. Come May, if I have a large enough reader base and decide I want to continue blogging seriously, I will re-evaluate the situation. Anyway, I digress…
Initially I unintentionally rigged my blog so that when I looked at it, I saw what was most important to me, namely who, if anyone, was reading it and then eventually the countdown to when I leave the country. CB’s questions regarding my format, in my opinion, do make sense. And yes, my readers should have the sense to scroll down and look for stuff, but I don’t think it’s detrimental for the archives to be right near the top. However, I do think the Feedjit is important to my readers (as well as myself) because it allows them to explore where other readers come from. I think it puts my blog on the map in regards to the blogging community I’ve settled into.

So, to those of you who have made some comments on the changes here, I would first like to thank you. The point of this whole thing was to make my blog more accessible for my readers. You need to comment for me to know if it is actually working and I greatly appreciate the people that have. Also, I have diddled with the sidebar a bit with what CB tweaked and what you, my following, have told me that you want. There are certain things I refuse to compromise on with this blog. I refuse to put on a fake, non-vulgar or overly p.c. voice because that isn’t me, and this blog is supposed to show anyone who reads it a little taste of me (you know I’m yummy, you’re just afraid to say it). I am still writing this blog about me and my life and some of the people who come and go or who come and stay. That is what this place is for me; my written thoughts on my world and how I see it.

But I’m not so vain as to refuse feedback from the people who help to make my world tick. So thank you again, and I hope you continue to enjoy this little piece of me.
