Booked Solid

Three weeks left until I move to Belgium. What does this week look like?
Monday- Stopping down at the JCC to see if Aunt Fran still wants to buy me some new jeans
Tuesday- Babysitting
Wednesday – Babysitting Gruff and Bravo for the last time *cries*
Saturday – Hannukah with the family
Sunday – Babysitting Squirt for the last time *cries more*

And that’s just this week. The two weeks after that I have parent-teacher conferencing with six parents, packing, and various other loose ends to tie up. Oh, and there’s that eight hour work day every week day till the 21st.

One of my readers asked me today why I wasn’t blogging. First of all, NaBlo took a lot out of me blog-wise and it’s going to take a few days to recuperate. Also, there’s the matter of being busy, busy, busy with moving and holidays and babysitting and goodbyes. And then there’s that whole thing with me moving to a new country and moving in with a man, both of which I have never done before. Add to that a growing sense of losing everything familiar to me: my vices (not a bad thing here, just somewhat of a loss), my apartment, my car, my job, my cat (temporarily), eventually my native language…it’s a lot to let go of.

And yes, I still think it’s worth it for what I’m gaining in starting a life as an “us” instead of maintaining a lonely half-life consisting of just me.

Sounds ubber busy!!! Please keep us updated on how its going. Love reading your insanity. I didn’t realize your moving had come up that fast. WOW!!! Seems like yesterday you applied for your passport. Are you selling your car? what did you do with all your household goods? Did you have to learn a new language for your move?

Anonymous (don’t be shy next time, I won’t send any spam your way if you use a name)- I applied for the visa at the very end of November, but I had been gathering everything I needed from about July till then. One day I’ll recap the whole thing. Sometimes I forget my readers aren’t privvy to what I don’t mention, heh. Most of my household goods are in storage, though I believe my mom will sell most of it. My car was sold on Friday. I’ll be starting an intensive Dutch course that runs from January 8th untill September. Hopefully by then I’ll learn the language enough to start my masters at Ghent University.

What a fantastic adventure. I know it won’t all be roses and puppy pee, but it will be such an amazing experience, and you have an “us” to help you through any transitions.

I can’t wait to read about it!
