Kit n Kaboodle

January 24th, 2008 Lilacspecs 9 comments

My apologies to Carrie and anyone else who dislikes lengthy blog entries, but I’ve been accumulating things to blog about all week and I’m going to post most of them now. Now, Holly over at oh how my winter nights fly (true to her own choice of non capitalization *shudder*)is a pro at these sorts of posts, so Holly, if you read this feel free to drop me some pointers on skillfully rambling via blog. I am going to subtitle different topics, for organization purposes and also so you can leave off and then come back and find your place easier. See? I do care about you!

A Profound Observation on the Repetition of History
I read this post over at The Invisible Woman. I found it insiteful and uncanny in a very discomforting way. I’m still offering a safe bastion to those who want to flee…all I ask in return is your agreement to providing unpaid labor for CB and his dad. Then we’ll all be living comfortably so much faster. Welcome to the Lilac Commune! Anyway, please go read Scarlet W. Blue‘s post. It’ll really make you think, and I really think more people need to start doing that in the good ol’ US of A.

Guess What This Commercial is For

I saw this one night while CB and I were watching tv and we looked it up right away. Seriously, what do you think this commercial is about? I know, but I’m not telling. I want to see people’s guesses. After I saw this rant from Lazy Iguana I started thinking. I totally do not miss all of the useless and excessive advertising you get on American television. During CSI wanna know how many commercial breaks there are here? Two. Yup, two, that’s it. And I am totally ok because then I get to watch commercials like this.

A Fun New Meme!
I have seen this on several blogs and everyone seems to be tagging themself with it, so I am too. I did cheat by having CB do the photoshopping. I am clueless when it comes to that, although I really ought to learn some basics, now that I have a computer with the software on it. Anyway, the way it works is:

1.The first article title on this page is the name of your band.

2. The last four words of the very last quote on this page is the title of your album.

3. The third picture, no matter what it is, on this page, will be your album cover.

4. Use your graphics program of choice to throw them together, and post the results.

So this is my album. I had something totally different and more fitting yesterday, but CB shut down my firefox tabs and, well, two of them bring up random things every time, so I started over today. Anyway, it looks cool and CB is an over achiever and animated it to make it look more artsy.

I Got A Sparkly!
Woohoo! Jientje over at Heaven in Belgium has given me an award! My first award! Probably my last since I’m not so great with my socialization skills both inside and out of the blogging arena…that reminds me, maybe I should dust off my cre8buzz account now and then instead of deleting the daily updates on how my rating is plumetting…emphasis on should as opposed to will. If you scroll down you can see my new sparkly right there under my NaBloPoMo badge.

And Finally
I’ve restrained myself thusfar, but you had to have known I’ve been observing some of my classmates and making little character profiles in my head. If you’ve ever wondered how the makers of clue or novelists like Agatha Christie get their cast of characters, I’m thinking those people had some foreign language class somewhere in Europe. Anyway, many of my random thoughts have begun to congeal (good word, let’s say it together now: congeeeeeaaaaal…yummy) into some writeable matter. Warning:written matter may be somewhat squishy as congealing is not complete.

I haven’t decided exactly how I’m going to do this. Ideally I’d like a seperate little “character sketch” blog in which I post a new character weekly and then flesh them out.

EDITED- I removed the sketch that was here and put it in the shiny, brand new Sketchy Characters blog.

And I think that’s enough for tonight. CB and I have some popcorn popped and we’re ready to go watch a DVD.
