I’m really not as excited as that title sounds. In actuality, I’ve had a killer headache for the past several hours and normally I would save this for tomorrow but I’ve been planning on participating in Soccer Mom In Denial’s Music Monday for over a week now and I’m reserving Monday for the song I have been holding in my head.
While perusing the latest post at A2eatwrite I noticed I had been tagged for this meme:
1). Pick up the nearest book (of at least 123 pages)
2). Open the book to page 123
3). Find the fifth sentence
4). Post the next three sentences
5). Tag five people
Alrighty, let’s see, I’m currently reading The Circus in Winter by Cathy Day and it happens to be sitting right here by my left hand…
“When they were babies, she’d slept in the nursery so that every few hours she could make sure they were still breathing. Wayne indulged her at first, but then insisted she stop. ‘You’ll make them nervous with your worry.’”
Okay and now to tag five more people, but the thing is, I tend to roam in a few blog circles that end up connecting to each other, so everyone will end up getting tagged with this meme a bunch of times. Therefore I’m tagging my readers without blogs (you can leave the meme in the comments section if you decide to take me up on this):
Mom
Dad (Enigma)
Judie
Fizz
Crooktooth (who does have a blog but never posts anymore…post something!)
And also I’d like to direct your eyes down my troublesome (but temporarily tweaked) sidebar to the sparklies section. Cablegirl at 42 gave me this award.

Now I’m supposed to pass it along to 10 other excellent bloggers so here goes (then I’m off to take an Aleve, honest):
Avery, Holly, Dapoppins, Novembrance, Thalia’s Child, Lotus, Dan, Deb, Missboroughs, and Cablegirl this excellent is for you!
I really love the look of this theme, really, I do. I have also received plenty of compliments and thumbs up for the new and improved image of my blog. These are both huge plusses. The major fault I saw with this theme was the presence of butterflies (I like them but I’m not a hardcore butterfly enthusiast, nor do I want to portray myself as the “butterfly type” cause I’m not) and the lack of glasses. After all, this is Lilac Colored Glasses, not Lilac/Brown Colored Butterflies. But I can live with the butterflies. They’re pretty and understated and not too girly, so they are certainly tolerable.
What I cannot deal with is the limitation of my sidebar. I’ve been wanting two side bars, one on the left and one on the right, but I have yet to find any template that I like with this feature. Also, the one sidebar I do have is fixed and entirely too narrow. I can’t even tell you how CB and I have had to fiddle and resize almost everything I try to put in there. Also notice how the longer lines of text tend to trickle off and into the cell padding. We haven’t found any way to fiddle with the coding that will allow for more room in the bloody sidebar and it’s pissing me off. Today, for instance, I decided I’d do the whole twitter thing, because while I’m not trendy enough to start something when it’s brand new (besides listening to up and coming musicians occasionally) I am prone to picking up on it within a couple years of it’s popularity boom. Better late than never is apparently my motto when it comes to technology.
So I made a little flash widget and put it in my sidebar, only it was too big (like friggin everything else I try to put in there) and there was no option to adjust the size, so I put the non-prettiful, non-flashy widget there instead and it still hags off into the padding. Fucker.
Also, you may note that my library thing is gone as well. Why? because I got tired of a library thing that was wider than my sidebar and when I tried to restylize the widget there was no width narrow enough to accomodate my anorexic sidebar. I’m ready to set up a “Please Feed My Sidebar” donation button. Please send your homecooked pixels to this address so my sidebar doesn’t fade away entirely people!
But really, I kid. I have issues with bloggers that ask for donations to things that aren’t globally recognized crises. Doesn’t mean I won’t read you if you have a donate button, just means I won’t ask for those kind of donations from any of my readers. But all that aside, I’ve started looking into purchasing a custom blog design but they’re expensive and CB asserts that he could design a functioning blog template over a weekend. I don’t quite believe him, to be honest, nor will he have the oppurtunity to prove himself, as he has a lot of work for his job and his class will start soon so that means less time to work at home where he can occasionally hover over my blog administrations and tweak my mistakes.
What is the point of this post? I’m really not sure. I guess I’d like some input. When I check my statistics I usually see about 30 hits per day and of those 30 I’ll assume 20 are people who I gratefully call my following. So here it is, oh gracious and supportive following, my dilemma for the day (week actually, or even two weeks): what the heck should I/can I do about this blog’s design?
