Lagging
We’re still getting over our jet lag here in Cabanaland. The past two nights we’ve both been up until 2 or 3 in the morning. CB managed to get himself to work around 9 am on Friday (giving me a wakeup call at 11) and the cat woke me up around 8:30 this morning with a little situation that went something like this:
hork hork hork hork hork
Me: What was that noise
CB(sitting up in bed and looking towards the door): I dunno, nothing.
Me(being aware that the cat was awake and not sleeping on the bed like he’d done the night before): I’m gonna go check…shit…the cat threw up I think.
CB: A lot?
Me: Oh wait, I think it’s just a hairball.
CB: There’s tissues next to my side of the bed (I could go a lot of ways with that comment, but let’s focus people).
I wipe up the mess, refresh Rex’s water dish and make sure he drinks a bit and climb back into bed.
CB: I’m sorry I didn’t get up.
Me: S’ok, you can feed him this morning though*, ok?
CB: zzzzzzz
I dozed off for a bit and then rolled over to see Rex sitting next to the bed and staring at me, all “feed me woman!” One glance at CB was all it took to know I was feeding Rex this morning. So I got out of bed, went down to the kitchen, brought some food up, fed the kitty and played on the computer for an hour or so before the phone rang. CB’s dad was coming over to take him to pick shower bases. I took the phone in and left the room, taking a water bottle with me from the six pack of semi-sparkling water that we keep by the bed.
CB (from in the bed): Korie…
Me(from the other room): What?
CB: Can you bring me some water?
Me (biting my lip): Sure hun (walking in and handing my prone bf my unopened bottle of water) not like there aren’t three bottles right above your head there, but here, have mine.
CB(struggling to unscrew the lid): I’m sorry, I just…
Me: Need me to open it too?
My point being that while Cabana Boy is indeed managing to wake up earlier than I am(after this episode I laid down and slept till 1in the afternoon) and does seem to adapt easier to jet lag, it doesn’t seem very useful if his first hour or two awake are spent like a narcoleptic stroke victim with amnesia. Just sayin’.
*When I say we have to feed the cat I’m referring to the couple tablespoons of wet food he gets in the morning. He has hard food in his bowl 24/7, just so you don’t think I’m starving my cat.
He looks like he’ll be okay to me.
