Music Monday – Music From The Lowlands

musicmonday.jpg

If anyone has been keeping track of the Eurocup this year, you’ll know that the Nederlands is holding strong through the round robin playoffs and the Dutch have been going wild with their cheesehats and eye-watering orange paraphanelia. Over here in Flanders they tend to make fun of the Dutch for their fashion sense, their bajillion variations on gouda, and most of all their tightfisted overly frugal nature. But with the Nederlands doing so well right now in their division combined with the fact that when it comes to sports Belgium sucks big hairy goat testicles doesn’t have a leg to stand on, Flanders is showing a lot of support for their neighbors. So for this Music Monday I’ve decided to give you a Dutch singer that is in my top ten list of female solo artists: Anouk.
Falling Sun
Relationship lost on a stormy sea
I hold on to you
Just hold on to me
When the lighting strikes
You hear the thunder roaring
And you don’t know how long
This will go on

But I know I still love you
And I know you still care
So keep on tryin´when you’re sure you still love me

I don’t know much
But I know how to love you
Doesn’t that mean anything
I don’t know much
But I know how to love you

A sea of love
Don’t let it drown us
We’re way too far from shore
As we go deeper
As the wind grows stronger
It tries to tip us over
But we both learned how to swim
So let’s just go on

´Cause I know I still love you
And I know you still care
So keep on tryin´when you’re sure you still love me

I don’t know much
But I know how to love you
Doesn’t that mean anything
I don’t know much
But I know how to love you

Yeah I know I still love you
And I know you still care

I don’t know much
But I know how to love you, yeah
Doesn’t that mean anything
I don’t know much
But I know how to love you

And that’s all I need to know
Yeah that’s all I need to know babe
Oh that’s all I need to know
That’s all I need to know
For now

What a soulful singer! You never think of the Dutch having, much, err, soul.

And I’m with CJ – “big hairy goat testicles” is the best thing I’ve read or probably will read today.

    Anouk is great!

And yes our sports suck great big hairy goat testicles …you didn’t need to scratch that out.

Nevertheless I still enjoy myself greatly by mocking the Dutch (although I must in honesty admit they are playing beautifully!)
