“Dip the apple in the brew. Let the Sleeping Death seep through.”
CB and I went to a sort of amusement park/zoo place called Bellewaerde in Ieper yesterday. This was actually Plan F of the stuff we wanted to do on Sunday, but the daytrip gods strove, with all their mighty fortitude, to smite our every effort at going out for the day so yeah, we ended up in Ieper at a not so impressive little theme park. But it was still nice to spend a day out together, especially since my new job and CB’s upcoming doctoral submission have run us both sort of into the ground as far as spending time with each other doing something besides sleeping.
When we got back to Gent we decided to have dinner early and possibly head back home to wrap up the day with some much wanted amorosity (dunno if it’s a word, but if not, just consider it my word for high intensity amorous behavior). Our first choice in restaurant wasn’t serving dinner until later so we wandered down to the Patershol to look for a restaurant. I had spotted a place that looked like it made some really yum curries and after a bit of searching we spotted it. We then proceeded to have the BEST Indian food either of us has ever had. We shared a mixed tajine plate with a potato curry, rice, yogurt sauce and garlic naan. It was fantastic.
About 2 hours later the sever abdominal cramping hit about half way through our walk home. CB felt it first and soon so did I, only I got nausea too. Luckily we were able to catch a bus sitting at a red light and get back to the house faster because otherwise my dinner would’ve been decorating the sidewalk of Phoenixstraat. Do you know the word for “food poisoning” in Dutch? Well now I do; voedselgiftiging. CB was feeling relatively ok and functional before we went to bed but I had been doubled over, crying out, sitting on the porcelain pot with my head in a garbage bag for I’d say almost 2 hours before I was able to get upstairs and do my homework for class and email it to my teacher along with an explanation of whyI may not be in class today. I wasn’t able to sleep until almost 4 am and moving this morning was nearly impossible. All the muscles in my torso and back are sore and tired. Even walking up the stairs leaves me out of breath. As soon as I finish this I’m going to lie down and watch a movie and try not to hurl the Aquarius (Belgian Powerade)I just drank all over one of the cats (probably Luna cause she just loves laying on my belly while I’m in bed).
Anyway, I apologize for not posting the past few days and especially for missing Weekly Winners yesterday, but I’ll have a double batch of pictures for you next Sunday.
