Save Me
I’ve decided to roll with the topic of songs that I like that have the title “Save Me” because, well, after looking up the song from yesterday on Youtube, I realized that there are a few songs that I like with the title. So here’s the next one, “Save Me” by Aimee Mann. CB and I saw her perform live in Brussels in a very small, fantastically intimate venue. If you do recognize this song you probably are familiar with her other hit, “Wise Up” as they are both on the soundtrack of Magnolia (one of CB’s favorite movies). I love the soulfullness of Aimee’s voice, and especially the muted but still powerful emotion she puts into this song in particular. There is an amazing intensity here but it’s so understated and it moves me.
You look like a perfect fit
For a girl in need of a tourniquet
But can you – save me
Come on and – save me
If you could – save me
From the ranks of the freaks
Who suspect they could never love anyone
‘Cause I can tell
You know what it’s like
The long farewell
Of the hunger strike
But can you save me
Come on and save me
If you could save me
From the ranks of the freaks
Who suspect they could never love anyone
You struck me down like radium
Like Peter Pan or Superman
You will come to save me
C’mon and save me
If you could save me
From the ranks of the freaks
Who suspect they could never love anyone
‘Cept the freaks
Who suspect they could never love anyone
But the freaks
Who suspect they could never love anyone
C’mon and save me
Why don’t you save me
If you could save me
From the ranks of the freaks
Who suspect they could never love anyone
Except the freaks
Who suspect they could never love anyone
Except the freaks who could never love anyone

I love Aimee Mann’s voice. I don’t know enough of her songs, however, and they all seem pretty down. I think I like her voice much better than I’d like to be her friend, if that makes sense?
Um… I should probably be asleep. I think I’m babbling.
Beautiful. That film made me sob though. Boo hoo. ;D
Great song–I love Aimee Mann
