Saddle Up
Spring has sprung in Gent and with it comes the return of the bike.
Yes, my yellow student bike, which sat in the storage room from December until this week (I REALLY don’t like riding a bike in the winter) has been checked up, maintenanced and is ready to go for the spring/summer season.
And with my enthusiastic return to this means of transportation comes a less pleasant phenomenon: sore bits.
Here it’s called zadelpijn (saddle pain) and it’s back with a vengeance. Last time I had this problem I basically had to just suck it up and deal with the pain until my body toughened up and it looks like this time will be no different. Fortunately for me though, my new job seems to require bus and tram trips only so it seems I’ll have some travel time to rest my sore spots.
And yes, as of today I am gainfully employed as a poetsdame (cleaning woman). My first house is tomorrow and my second is on Wednesday. Hopefully I’ll be accumulating some more hours as I go along.
Wish me luck everybody!
